But the boy will begin to question the true nature of these apparitions, having to face the truth about his father's destiny and the evil force that threatens to consume him.。故事发生在三十年代的上海闸北区，有两个势力对立的黑帮组织——“青龙帮"和"黑龙帮”。为了争夺地盘，他们纷纷施展各种奇谋。青龙帮的头目川图巴结军阀以扩大声势，而黑龙帮的头目魂则想挫败川图的气势，于是重金雇佣了曾经的大佬凌锋和他的女儿凌若华（郑裕玲饰），计划让川出丑。 川图收养了流浪汉欧阳汉（周润发饰），让他与凌若华纠缠，打乱凌若华的思绪。欧阳汉和凌若华之间展开了一场明争暗斗。他们的斗争引起了巡捕萧六（吕良伟饰）的注意，萧六对欧阳汉有所偏见，经常找借口为难他们，两人因此产生了对立。川图和萧六同时爱上了歌女韩梦蝶（姚炜饰），但不幸的是蝶倾心于欧阳汉，川图得知后心生嫉妒。。
