Nerd, Swagger, Bitch, Rocker and Loser go clubbing ...。故事发生在美国费城，中心人物是一个凶杀调查组，他们面临的案件不是最近发生的，而是几年前甚至十几年以前的旧案。由于发生的时间久远，加之当事人已经难以寻找，各种犯罪证据几乎已经烟消云散，所以调查起来特别困难。这样的凶杀案，被形象地称为“冷案”(Cold Case)。 剧集的主角是“冷案”调查组中惟一的女探员莉莉·拉什，她凭着坚韧的性格，和队友一起寻找至今健在的当事人，抽丝剥茧地让尘年往事重新浮出水面。。米迦勒和爱娃本是两个在酒吧偶遇的陌生人，他们喝了非常多的酒，第二天早上，这两个人甚至不认识对方是谁，也不记得前一天晚上发生了什么事，他们的位置被警察封锁了，这两个陌生人也不得不被困在一起。
