白清雪和陆景川在父辈的撮合下结为夫妻，陆景川性格叛逆，不愿意屈服，选择逃婚，数年后，陆景川一心想娶神医艾薇，却不料自己一心想娶的救命恩人就是自己多年前结为夫妻的妻子白清雪。。一名戴面具的男子自昏迷中醒来，回忆一片空白，然而眼前所见到的，却是长着耳朵和尾巴的怪异女子。原来女子名叫艾露露（柚木凉香 配音）。艾露露告诉男子，她是“亚人类”，她和她同族的同伴们住在远离城市的深山之中，靠种植和农耕过着朴素的生活。族长将哈克奥罗（小山力也 配音）的名字赐予男子，从此，哈克奥罗便在这宁静的山村里过上了平静的生活。村子里住着一群善良快乐的人们，哈克奥罗运用自己的智慧帮助村民们开垦耕种，极快的提高了粮食的产量，同时在村民中也有了很高的威望。 当村民们正为了这个丰收年而举族欢庆的时候，野心勃勃的藩主将贪婪的目光投向了他们。藩主克扣粮食又增加赋税，让本来就清贫的村民们不堪重负。终于，在忍无可忍之中，村民们爆发了，而带领起义军英勇战斗的不是别人，正是哈克奥罗本人。他们能推翻腐朽的统治吗？哈克奥罗的真实身份究竟是谁？这一切都在战争的推进中得到了解答。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
