男主角伦随母亲从大城市芝加哥移居小镇贝农，该镇人民的生活和思想几乎都控制在古板的摩尔神父手中，对来自城市的伦不太友好。伦也对这种欠缺时代精神和违反人性的生活不以为然，并总想通过自己来改变小镇，于是引进了热门的音乐舞蹈，最终和摩尔神父发生了冲突。。A private detective helps a prostitute being assaulted, and notices that she is wearing a very unique ring. She is later found murdered and there is no trace of the ring, which turns out to be part of a cache of jewelry stolen by the Nazis during World War II and smuggled out of France after the wary by an American army colonel.
