1855年的英格兰，著名黄金大盗爱德华·皮尔斯的最新目标是盗窃一列由伦敦开往克里米亚半岛的列车，因为这辆车上运满了黄金去给当地驻军充当军费。参与这项任务的还有皮尔斯美丽的妻子米利亚姆和英格兰最有名的开锁匠罗伯特·奥嘉。皮尔斯发现列车上存放黄金的仓库上面共有四把不同的锁，要用四把不同的钥匙才可以打开，而这四把钥匙分别在四个不同的人身上。所以这项任务十分艰难，但皮尔斯三人还是凭借着自己聪明的头脑盗走了车上的黄金……。A mother and a daughter struggle to climb the Swiss Alps while they dig into a past that the mother has spent years suppressing.
