商人弗兰克在到达英国的纽卡斯尔后，决定大力着手于他的生意，并且想把整个城市控制在自己手中，凯特是他雇来的美女，用来收买当地的高官……。在宫城县的山里，潮田芳子（内田有纪 饰）毒杀一对不伦男女，并将他们伪造成自杀的模样，旋即返回东京。为了及时有效得到案情的确切消息，她订阅了仅在地方发行的《仙台日报》。为了回到营销部的订阅理由，她谎称喜欢连载小说作家杉本孝志（高岛政伸 饰）的作品。名不见经传的杉本得知遥远的东京有女性书迷存在自然喜悦非常，可是芳子在得知死者被警方判定为服毒自杀后迅速解除了订阅合同。此后不久，杉本辗转来到东京找到芳子，一方面表达作为作家的谢意，一方面针对那起案件提出质疑，准备以此创作一部小说。而在此过程中，芳子不可避免地露出了马脚…… 本片根据松本清张的同名原作改编。。Penny-less and job-less, Sandy gets by on her looks and attitude, and by borrowing from her high-powered sister.
