本片根据Ronald Harwood的同名戏剧改编，Anthony Hopkins扮演一名年迈多病的演员，Ian McKellen扮演对他忠心耿耿的幕后助手兼化妆师Norman。故事发生在第二次世界大战期间。据称该剧的原型人物就是Ronald Harwood本人——他曾是著名英国演员Donald Wolfit爵士的化妆师。。杨先生(易烊千玺饰)是Memory酒店的管家，今日，四位神秘的客人到访酒店，他们面色沉重，各怀心事。杨先生敲敲手中的拐杖，化身出四个管家，分别带领大家去往不同的房间。可他们不知道的是，打开房门后，将会看到什么。一次奇妙的旅程就这么开始了。。In the dusty streets of Crow's Landing, outlaws, wealthy plantation owners, runaway slaves, a half Cherokee girl, a pair of brothel owners and a woman days away from giving birth all end up in a bloody shoot out and running for their lives.。
