该片讲述了一位患了癌症的父亲与女儿之间朴素而又真挚的情感。父亲黄春生，一位40多岁的普通市民，为人忠厚淳朴，待人谦和礼让，内心深处虽充满了成为英雄的渴望，却从来不曾有过什么壮举。他17年前丧偶，独自一人拉扯着女儿黄心仪过活。正当他碌碌无为地活到不惑之年，突然得知自己身患绝症。父亲希望在最后的时光里给女儿最多的爱，为了不影响女儿的情绪，他默默忍受着身体上的痛苦，要为相依为命的女儿留下今后的一切，甚至把本该治病的钱都留下来给她，可是女儿往往不能体会父亲的苦心。。Young people use music to express their new awareness of life and generational opposition to their parents, as well as to protest the social and political climate in East Germany.
