In the midst of a Marxist-Leninist guerrilla insurgency by the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front, the anti-communist military dictatorship uses death squads to abduct, torture and "disappear" anyone who speaks about their terrible human rights record. ...。1927年的上海笼罩在白色恐怖之中，中共党员剑华被敌人杀害当天，他的儿子出生了。地下党负责人将其妻闵雯转移至苏区，其子托给工人顾阿根收养，起名小亮。几经波折，小亮被一官家收养。10岁那年，小亮得知自己身世，逃往上海寻找母亲。闵雯正巧也去苏北接小亮，可小亮已经不在那了。小亮流浪在街头被顾阿根找到，便带着他随难民奔向武汉，中途被炸，小亮在一伤兵帮助下到了武汉，并成为一名小八路。闵雯见到小亮，却在特殊身份不能相认。直到他们都来到延安，小亮才终于见到了日夜思念的妈妈。。
