Faced with the prospect of a dim future in his impoverished village, young Shankar bids farewell to his family in rural Bengal and makes a journey to the fabled "Mountain Of The Moon" in search of gold and diamond mines.。富野がライフワークとする異世界「バイストン・ウェル」を舞台とする一連の作品の一つであり、アニメ『聖戦士ダンバイン』、小説『オーラバトラー戦記』等と世界設定を共有するが、他の作品とは全く関係しないパラレルワールドであるとされている[1]。また、アニメ版は大筋を小説版の約70年後を舞台としており、関連性はあるものの、小説版の結末で描かれた一部のキャラクターの死が最初から無かった世界のその後という設定になっており、こちらもパラレルワールドという事になっている。 「リーンの翼」とは、作中に登場する、伝説の英雄に現れる光の翼のこと。「リーンの翼」を持つ英雄は本作の主人公以前にも存在し、6500年前よりバイストン・ウェルの世が乱れたときに幾度となく現れ、その都度世界を救ったと言われている。作中では足（靴）に「翼」が現れるが、背中に現れた者もあるらしく、その者によ...。Hollywood arrives en force to Quincy, the small town where the secret Crown Cola billionaires live.
